Prevention of Acid Wear

Acid wear can affect all ages and cannot be reversed - protection is the best policy.

There are several things you can do to protect your tooth enamel, even if you already have signs of acid wear:

  • Don't swish acidic drinks in your mouth. If possible, drink soft drinks through a straw to keep your teeth from coming in contact with acidic beverages.
  • Avoid brushing your teeth immediately after consuming acidic foods or drinks, when your enamel is most soft and more likely to be damaged. Wait at least one hour after a meal to brush or brush before eating.
  • Use ProNamel twice a day every day to reharden and remineralize softened tooth enamel and to help protect against acid wear.
  • Visit your dentist regularly and follow your dentist's advice.
